Bissell Vacuum Cleaners

My Bissell 5770 is an upright, and the floor brush section doesn’t turn on. It has a big red main power button. That works fine, and the detachable hose works fine in doing upholstery, etc. Next to the big red button is a ‘brush’ button. That is on. There is a foot lever to tilt the handle back. I did that. It is not clogged or full. The floor brush roller is clean and the band is attached and moving correctly. The manual troubleshooting section and Bissell online were no help. I have used the vacuum for one year and know how to operate it. I suspect a switch malfunction in the ‘brush’ button or the foot lever button, but wonder if there is something else I can try before paying $100 to the repair shop. Thanks in advance!
